Registration for the Texas A&M University Turbomachinery Laboratory’s fifth biennial Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (ATPS), including short courses, is open. The event will take place 13-16 May at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Platinum sponsor PETRONAS continues to support ATPS along with Silver Sponsors, Ebara Elliott Energy, Emerson, ExxonMobil, Shinkawa Electric, and Bronze Sponsors Neuman & Esser, and Bumi Wangsa TMS Sdn Bhd (BWTMS). ATPS also receives support from the Malaysia Convention Centre & Exhibitor Bureau (MyCEB). Following in the footsteps of its sister symposium, the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (TPS) held annually in Houston, Texas, ATPS has become a premier event for international turbomachinery and pump end-users and manufacturers, providing a platform for networking and enhancing technical skills in rotating equipment systems.
ATPS has a focused program valuable to practitioners working in various industries including water/wastewater, power generation, aerospace/aviation, and oil & gas/petrochemical industries, offering a diverse technical program reviewed and selected by a distinguished advisory committee of engineers. Alongside the technical program is an international exhibition manned by technical experts in leading companies including OEMs and service providers. The 2022 event attracted 1,156 attendees from 33 countries and 30 exhibiting companies.
TECHNICAL PROGRAM
ATPS 2024 will be held from 14-16 May 2024 at the KLCC, with a range of full-day short courses offered on Monday, 13 May. Delegates attending the event benefit from international and regional professionals who will share their expertise on successful machinery projects, operation, and asset management practices with insights on energy transition challenges. The program includes tutorials, case studies, technical briefs, and discussion groups. Panel sessions will address current challenges in attracting talent in the industry and managing digital technologies. Students and industry delegates are encouraged to attend.
EXHIBITION
The exhibition, free to the public, showcases products and support technologies from leading rotating machinery original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Full-size equipment, technology, and emerging industry trends will be on display. The public can access the exhibit hall for free, either by completing a free pass registration form online or at the KLCC.
UNIVERSITY COUNCIL PROGRAM
The ATPS University Council was established to support activities that benefit students attending the conference. Its goal is to provide academic insights and advice through programs that enhance student activities and growth at ATPS.
This year, the University Council, ATPS and the Turbomachinery Laboratory are hosting the Powering Innovation Competition. Students are encouraged to register and submit innovative ideas. They will later present their innovations to a judging panel and competition audience. Selected winners and runners-up will receive prizes.
The Powering Innovation Competition is organized by Global Turbine Asia and supported by TalentCorp. Co-organizers include Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), UniKL MIAT – Gas Turbine Engine Research Hub, and Kelab Remaja Udara Malaysia (KRUM).
