The Turbomachinery Laboratory, a part of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, is joining forces with ExxonMobil, Shinkawa Electric, and Emerson, solidifying their positions as Silver sponsors for the 2024 Asia Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium (ATPS). Taking place from May 14-16, with a dedicated short course day on the 13th, ATPS will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia. Each company brings their expertise and commitment to the table, ensuring ATPS 2024 reaches new heights.
Dr. Eric Petersen, the Director of the Turbomachinery Laboratory, along with Dag Calafell, Advisory Committee Chair of ATPS and retired Chief Machinery Engineer for ExxonMobil, and Greg Gammon, Director of Global and Corporate Partnerships, have shared insights into the advantages these sponsors bring to the event.
Dr. Peterson emphasizes Emerson’s long-standing presence at their annual Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium in Houston, stating, “… Emerson has been a long-time exhibitor at our annual Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium in Houston and their support of ATPS brings a prestigious powerhouse of technology, software, and engineering to what is now becoming a must-attend event in the Asia Pacific region as ATPS rapidly grows into a major program.”
Dag Calafell expresses enthusiasm about gaining endorsement from his former employer, ExxonMobil, saying, “ExxonMobil has a long history in the Asia Pacific Region including almost 60 years in Malaysia. During that time, they have contributed to much O&G knowledge, practices, and training in one of the largest energy markets in the world.” Noting this legacy, Calafell adds ExxonMobil has recently announced collaboration with our ATPS Platinum sponsor PETRONAS in emerging CSS projects. “Having such a highly recognized leader in energy supporting ATPS as a Silver sponsor illustrates their ongoing commitment to education and training for their employees, and through their sharing of valuable knowledge through presentations at the Symposia.”
Greg Gammon shares, “Shinkawa has a deep history in reliability providing sensor technologies that keep the Shinkasen bullet trains running on time. This expertise is vitally needed within the many industries ATPS targets including O&G/Petrochemical, Power generation, water/wastewater, marine, and aviation/aerospace industries.”
ATPS, organized by the Turbomachinery Laboratory, is developed by the industry through peer-reviewed processes led by advisors from both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and end-user companies.
“ATPS started as an offshoot of TPS, to bring the best practices, networking, and top-tier continuing education program for which TPS is recognized, to a broader Far East delegate pool,” Calafell notes. “Now ATPS promises to be the break-out event for growth in the region thanks, in part to this sponsorship from these leading companies and our other loyal supporters.”
