Net Zero Emissions
WEDNESDAY, 25 MARCH 2022 | 1600- 1730| Level 3, Hall 7A
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), concluded that a 1°C temperature rise can cause an increase of 7% rainfall in Malaysia in the coming decades, causing more frequent floods. Climate change is ongoing and only carbon emissions management can assuage it.
Short term we must favor the efficient use of energy throughout and the use natural gas as a transition fuel, with possible hydrogen applications to buffer intermittent renewable fuel sources. In parallel, we must strive for a 2050 net zero carbon via carbon capture, a cap on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and carbon offsets. Ultimately Hydrogen and Ammonia are surfacing as preferred fuels. The panel will speak about what is being done and should be done as soon as possible to manage carbon emissions and embrace sustainability.
Suppliers will be expected to provide flexible solutions that can be adapted, modified and upgraded throughout the Energy Transition as the new alternative energy and fuel supply chain capacity emerges and develops.
A question-and-answer session will follow with networking at the Exhibition finishing the event.
Speakers:
- lham Sunhaji, Head of Corporate Strategy and Research at Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corp.
- Rainer Kurz, Manager, Gas Compressor Engineering, Solar Turbines, ASME Fellow, TPS and ATPS Advisory Committee
- Dr. Jason Wilkes, Manager of the Rotating Machinery Dynamics Section, Southwest Research Institute
- Nicholas Corbett, CEng FIMechE, Consultant
